Hi, We’RE LANE AND SOPHIA.
Living in a society so disconnected from nature has been hard for us. We yearn for a time when our daily lives required a direct connection to the natural world around us. A time when life depended upon our knowledge, relationship, and presence with resources that exist within our environment.
This desire to connect with our ancestral roots has inspired us to lift the veil for others, and illuminate the magical connection that lives around us all.
Having studied hands-on applicable field botany and clinical herbalism through several schools, we have become well-versed in many different ecosystems throughout North America— as well as each plant’s respective physiological and spiritual effect on the human body.
Studying native plants and interacting with their landscapes has taught us many things that have metaphorically corresponded to all aspects of our lives.
That is the sole reason why we continually decide to turn to our best plant friends for guidance when we need it. We believe that plants contain the answers, for plants are the ones so deeply rooted and engrained into Earth’s soil.
“If soil is the degradation of all that has existed upon this Earth, plants are a physical expression and representation of the wisdom that has accumulated throughout Earth’s existence.”
Having grown up in Central Oregon, Lane was immediately immersed in nature as a young lad. He spent his youth attending skills gatherings, campout excursions, and backpacking trips throughout the Western Cascades.
His favorite summit in Oregon is Mt. Thielsen, as the final push to the summit requires the perfect blend of “casual, but with calculated risk.”
Casual with calculated risk would probably be a good phrase to describe Lane as a person, actually.
Lane believes that growth happens on the edge of discomfort, which is why there is no hesitation to always choose the most immersed experience— often times getting him into trouble. As he has matured individually, he has learned to understand the balance of his most prevailing Aries ways.
Lane has spent the last five summers working as a guide in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument area, where he gives praise to much of his self growth and individual exploration. Although he developed a very informal connection to the Newberry through his work, it wasn’t until studying botany and herbalism with Columbines that things all came together.
During the off-seasons, he was living primarily throughout Mexico and Peru— learning and exploring the different cultures of Latin America.
Lane has been through a number of health problems that have largely shaped and shifted his purpose as a human being. He continues to heal his own body from a lifetime of poor movement patterns, which has ultimately inspired him to share the knowledge that he has learned with others.
In a rural Illinois town far off from the city, Sophia Rose began her life living amidst the forest that surrounded Rose Lake— a lake that existed on a property that had been in her family for generations. Throughout her childhood, she spent the majority of her time creating her own world of fantasy and magic, with which she is still very deeply connected to.
Sophia has more than often found herself to be an outlier to others. This facet of her personality has driven her passion to learn deeply about the topics she resonates with, allowing her to share truth and authenticity with those around her. By staying committed to her intuition, Sophia has learned (and is still learning) how to trust the wisdom of the Earth.
She knew her purpose existed somewhere within the healing arts, as she found herself studying alternative medicine at a very young age. With a brewing desire to learn more, Sophia dove deep into many different spiritual texts, learning about the healing modalities within the different cultural backgrounds. This of course led her to discover her own unique connection to Source, as she began to perceive the universal patterns that exist within all of life.
Spending most of her time in a creative space, Sophia Rose finds herself most authentically expressed through her poetry, practice of ancestral skills, and studying the archetypal forces of nature. She feels that her purpose is to help bridge the gap for others into the world unseen, and back into our roots through deep reverence, ritual, and prayer.
